Where to find the best hot chocolates in Cornwall (2025)
I have tried out SO many hot chocolates in Cornwall since the start of the year so you dont have to go through the hardship yourself (sarcasm does not come across in a blog).
Here are 5 you NEED to try ☕🍫, you could say they are the top 5 hot chocolates in Cornwall…in my opinion anyway!
At the end I’ve included a list some other places I’ve visited, and I’ll keep updating this.
If there are any more locations you think are worth visiting then let me know in the comments. I’ll try them out over the next hot chocolate season, and revise the top spots if I have to.
Here we go….
5️⃣ Swanpool Beach Café, Falmouth
Swanpool Beach Café doesn’t just do a regular hot chocolate; they offer seven different varieties, including one called the hedgehog hazelnut! Really quite sugary sweet, creamy, and paired with a beachside view—what more could you want?
4️⃣ Poldhu Beach Café
One of my all-time favourite beaches, and Poldhu Beach café here is open all year round (or 363 days to be exact).
They change up their hot chocolates seasonally, and this one was smooth, rich, and the perfect warm-up after a wintery beach walk.
I actually didn’t feel sick after this one, and believe me some of the hot chocolates I’ve tried over the last three months I have struggled with!
3️⃣ Ruby’s, Fowey
This one nearly took second place! The hot chocolate at Ruby’s is extra creamy, but the real highlight is the marshmallow is piped around the edge of the cup, making every sip a little bit of heaven. This is SO unusual and very cool, you might get a moustache drinking it, but thats half the fun.
They did 3 varieties when I visited, and their hot chocolates are available seasonally – so you’ll have to check what’s available before stopping by. They do serve ice cream too, so I’m sure it won’t be a wasted trip.
They now have shops in Fowey, Mevagissey and Marazion (but I think Marazion does not do the hot chocolates).
2️⃣ Kabyn Café, Gwithian
If you love an over-the-top, indulgent hot chocolate, this one from the Kabyn Cafe at Gwithian is for you. This is not just a drink; it’s an experience. Sweet, loaded with toppings, and practically a dessert in itself—if you’re in Hayle, it’s a must-try. There’s two varieties to choose from….and whichever you choose, you will walk away with a smile on your face.
Just don’t blame me if you struggle to walk down the beach afterwards. Also, check their opening times, as they’re weather-dependent.
1️⃣ Eden Project, St Austell
This might not be the first place you think of for an incredible hot chocolate, but I’ve tried it twice, just to make sure the first time wasn’t a fluke (the things I do for authenticity..!)
I know, I know, I hear you say, “Sarah – the Eden Project? What?”
This hot chocolate is made with fair-trade cocoa, it’s rich, chocolatey, and not overly sweet. Topped with cream and marshmallows. I found it to be the perfect treat as you explore the biomes. Plus, if you bring your reusable cup its a more eco-friendly experience…and you get some money off too!
Did I miss your favourite? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll make sure to check it out when hot chocolate season rolls around again…
